The benches are used as seats; the square bench is for the exclusive use of Shamans and the twoheaded hawk bench is used by the Chiefs. The shapes of the benches depend on the creativity of the artists, always representing the animals of the Xingu Indigenous Territory, such as monkeys, anteaters, tapirs, pacas, capybaras, jaguars, coatis and armadillos, water animals such as tracajás (a king of river turtle), alligators and rays and also the curassow, hawk, macaw, parrot, vulture and more.
