Aida Salloum

Born in 1954, in Kab Elias, Bekaa, Lebanon, Aida Salloum was drawn since her early childhood to a path of painting and artistic expression through colour.

After earning a degree in Fine Arts from the Lebanese University, she went on to pursue a postgraduate diploma from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, and has held the position of Assistant Professor of Fine Arts at the Lebanese University since 1998.

Between 1991 and 2000, Nature regained a place in her art, replacing the devastation and sad realities of the past era. Colour and brushwork became the venues of liberation from the realistic scenery leading us to her inner reflections and deep emotions. Later on, her new aesthetical experience evolved between light, contemplative space and purity.
Salloum’s work has been featured in several group exhibitions across the years, and she has held five solo exhibitions in Lebanon, starting in 1991 at ‘Dar al-Nadwa’ in Hamra.

Her latest solo exhibition took place at Galerie Janine Rubeiz between February 16 and March 18, 2022.
