Mouazaz Rawda

Born in Baghdad in a family of Turkish origin, Mouazzaz visited Beirut at the age of twenty and fell in love with the country and the young physician Dr. Youssef Rawda whom she married and got her only daughter, Shirine.

 

Mouazzaz was a forceful well determined women, one of the first to drive an automobile in Beirut. She started studying art at the age of fifty attending classes with Moustafa Farroukh who encouraged her to join ALBA. Mouazzaz studied painting for three years. Later she joined AUB where she focused on sculpture at the advice of professor Arthur Frick, the head of the art department and had her first exhibition at AUB in 1963. She also took courses in sculpture in Paris.
