Nicolás Franco

Nicolás Franco (1973, Santiago, Chile) has had a truly international training, studying at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid, as well as residences at De Ateliers in Amsterdam and Gasworks in London. This diverse training has clearly influenced his Mixed Media Paintings, which appear to be an amalgamation of different influences and styles.


His work has been exhibited at Museums including the Tate Modern (London), Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst (Zurich), MEIAC (Badajoz), Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Lima, Museo Blanes (Montevideo), Museo del Barro (Asunción), MUUA (Antioquia), Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Santiago), Museo de Artes Visuales (Santiago), Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos (Santiago), Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Santiago.

Nicolas Franco´s works take their final form as paintings, collages, prints and installations that propose a flow of formal and metaphorical relations between language, images, objects and materials. The leitmotifs of many works are revealed from personal experiences and fortuitous encounters, and revolve around historical events, art history and the crossroads between personal and collective memory.
