Monther Jawabreh

Born in 1976 in Bethlehem, Palestine, Monther Jawabreh was raised in the Al Arroub refugee camp. He studied Fine Art at the Najah National University. His work reflects memories relating to the notion of origins and roots, communicating a sense of home and settlement, an experience that continues to shape the artist. Jawabreh funnels his expression, a collective personal experience, through a variety of multimedia including painting and video.

He believes resistance is not only confined to a political act, rather it includes a human, psychological and spiritual reality. For his upcoming five-year project, he is searching for a notion of resistance through comparisons, authentication and solutions for a plight.
